About Us

New Hope has been providing services to the Big Bend area for 18 years.  We began with a focus on our Batterer's Intervention Program and Anger Management services in 1994.  It was in 1994 that BIP programs began to be certified in the state of Florida, our BIP program has been here from the beginning.

Judge Kathleen Dekker originally founded New Hope and passed it on to Barry Jones, LCSW shortly after it's birth.  Barry Jones was a known provider in the community for BIP, anger management, and mental health services for more than 14 years.  He maintained New Hope until 2008 when he took over a new practice at Better Brain Care.

Barry then turned New Hope over to Marlon and Mileya Storey.  Marlon Storey studied social work at Florida State University and worked under Barry for 5 years facilitating BIP and anger management groups.  He earned his bachelor's degree in 2002.  He currently has 9 years of experience facilitating BIP and anger management. Marlon also has a background in mental health and working with persons with disabilities.

Mileya Storey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She also studied social work at Florida State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2002 and her master's degree in 2003.  She spent the first 5 years of her social work career in child welfare counseling foster children/families, adopted children/families, and women experiencing crisis pregnancies. In 2008 she joined Marlon at New Hope and expanded the practice to include risk assessments and counseling.  After six rewarding years of serving families and individuals of the Big Bend area, Marlon and Mileya has turned New Hope over to Westly Francois.
